Moody Friday

All week we were anticipating the concert at the
Holt. The Moody Blues were coming back to Eugene.
Early diner at a deli near the venue then off in the
rain to the hall. When we arrive, many folk in the
lobby congregating around the table of vendors of
Moody Blue associated products-CD's, DVD's, T-
shirts and printed material. Norma buys a 2-CD
live concert and I just people watch. A bit before
the show starts, we enter the hall and look for our
seats. Great location. About 1/3 way up in the
Orchestra. The big video screen is showing the past
of the band and we are looking around the hall for
friends. The hall slowly fills and the show begins.
Almost each song is an old favorite and the audience
shows their appreciation by giving a standing ovation
after each. At break norma goes into the lobby while
I sit and search the hall. I locate Chris and Elaine up
in the balcony. Norma returns, having seen and spoken
to many friends. The music begins and the crowd
begins to rise as the energy level seems to charge them.
I have misgivings about blocking the view of those
behind me, but eventually even they are induced to
stand and let the music take them away. As the
concert draws to a close, I turn to look at the swaying
mass that fills the house. Swaying, singing, clapping
hands to the beat, The Hult crowd reaches for a higher state
propelled by a band that knows. After a loud and long
ovation the band returns and plays us an encore.
Then we disperse to cars bikes and feet, the music
inside and beyond. We put the CD on the car machine
and cruise home.
The next day off to Yoga and the Sat Mkt. Meeting Chris
we share recollections of the show. This is the last
outdoor mkt. Next week, indoors at the Lane Cnty Fair Grnds.
Friends enjoy a final outdoor meal as Rich Glauber
entertains.
