A slligfhgtlh Fall.

These days one does know what to expect. One week Summerlike temps of 60 and 70, a few weeks later, the creek is frozen over and homeless huddle over Sterno fires and wrap themselves in sleeping bags and blankets. The mountains are bearing coats of snow many feet deep and skiers await the opening of Willamette Pass and Hoodo Ski areas. The new week promises some let-up in the intensity of the cold wave and maybe temps heading into the 50's. Meanwhile I ride each work day with on the bike temps dropping into the teens.
A few weeks ago, as I was making my way towards The Shop, a crazed person loomed out of the dark and fog, running full tilt towards me and as they drew neigh, they attempted to pull me off the bike. All this happened. very fast and all I could do was elbow the attacker to the pavement and speed away. As I was leaving, the person followed me with unintelligible language. When I arrived at Work, I contacted the Eugene Police and they said Officers in the area would be alerted. As far as I know, that was the end of it.
A few weeks later, as I was dumping trash into our Dumpster, my good  friend Dwight related that he had just been assaulted by a person pushing a grocery cart of belongings as he was leaving the Amazon Bikepath not far west of us. He said the person attempted to strike him with a bottle. Lucky for him, the attempt was unsuccessful and after admonishing the person he came over her to do his daily duties to the homeless felines in our neighborhood. I posted these events on Social Media and received many comments. Most were concerned with our  physical condition post event.
Last week, when I returned to work, the Bikepath that passes our building was littered with debris. I at first thought that it would fall to me to clean it up but when I thought about the hazards contained in the piles, I decided not to undertake the mission. I told Tony, our manager-owner that I did not want to do the task and set out my concerns. He agreed and we decided to contact the City for remediation. Well, a few days went by, talk circulated that I was just being obstinate and that I should "do my job."That got to me for a while and I wondered if I should. Wednesday, I discovered the piles were gone and I do not know who did the deed. In any event, glad to have them away from the Shop. We went to the Opening of the Holiday Market and stepped over the Amazon Creek. It was iced over, the leaves caught in frozen space. Noting Frog's rig at the door, we rushed into the warmth both physical and spiritual. This is the Winter embodiment of the Craft/Food weekly Saturday Market. Just in time catch the last exclamations of the Market Band with His Honor, Chris. Around the corner and there are our friends - The Breakfast Club. First concernd is scoping out the Mocha source. Whew! Mocha has continued its spiral and though the product was excellent, one must accommodate increased expenses. Maybe the Victory Garden must become part of the Landscape. Over to order a Deluxe Burrito from Rita's. Back at the table, various conversations between 8 or more good friends. First, norma's selection is announced and soon, mine.enjoying breakfast with a steaming Mocha. Our table is in flux and enjoying the very welcome Bob D. It was good to sharerrema our lives for a while. He is on a semi-recumbent bike. If one was adequately attired the passage could be remarkable. I got a flash from my long departed Recumbent by Ryan when he resided in Eugene and built his first bikes. Mine was one of Rhan/s favorite rides.
