I'm just back from the pre-fair activities of the Oregon Country Fair. The work continues and every day the energy ramps up. Larger crowds at meals and lots of new projects will continue to astound the visitor to the site. Today was the board meeting
and were able to all gather inside the new gift - a large yurt that could accomodate a couple hundred souls. Reports from
the fair staff and responses of fair members kept a lively level of communication. My coming birthday at the fair was
duely noted. Norma and I grace the day-passes and a friend has made a special "laminate." This year Recycling metal eating
utensils. We struck a deal with a local school to provide washing service and we just cycle them each day. We also are
developing a worm-driven paper composting plan. To my eye, the nature of the service we provide has greatly changed. When
I first started out in the "Garbage Crew" it was get it off the property to the nearest landfill and maybe to a willing neighbor
who produced a 500 cubic foot compost pile rife with plastic.
